Catching Up
I've been catching up on everyone's blogs today, so I thought I better update my own.
We have had a pretty run of the mill time since my last post. Grocery shopping and other errands, trying to keep Nicholas from standing on top of the Little Tykes picnic table, checking out a preschool for Allison (sniff, sniff), Ernie's busy days at work and mine at home.
About preschool for Allison - I was all for it! I felt like I was trying to convince most everyone else that it was the right thing to do. Then we had the meeting with the registrar of the school and looked at the classrooms. That's when it happened - I got choked up. It was all I could do to finish the meeting and not start crying. I still feel it's the right thing to do, but boy is that first day going to be tough!!
Nicholas is going to be climbing on more than the picnic table very soon. He's starting to get that one leg "hiked up" and will figure the rest out shortly, I'm afraid. He knows no fear and thinks it's funny when I use my serious tone with him. (Please keep us in your prayers.) :)
Lisa, Scotty, and Chelsea went to Pensacola this past weekend for a soccer tournament. Even though I got to talk to Lisa, it's just not the same when she's not in town. We sort of have a morning routine of instant messaging while she gets ready for work and I get the kids going with their breakfast. Then she calls me on her way in to work and we chat some more. If we're lucky, we talk a couple of more times during the day and then on her way home. We also instant message on the weekends while everyone is still sleeping. When she's out of town, this gets thrown out of whack and it's just not the same. I feel like something is missing. I'm always glad when they make it back safe and sound and they are just 4 miles away again.
As for the tournament, Chelsea got some good playing time in the first game, then hardly any in the second, then she scored the winning (and only) goal in the game on Sunday. I was very excited when she called me to tell me about it. She is one dedicated little soccer player and her Aunt Lauri is so proud!! But again, I'm glad they're home.

All In a Day's Work
OK...it's 2:00 pm and so far today, I have taken our two little ones to the doctor, occupied them while Ernie received our new washer and dryer and had furniture picked up for refinishing and repair. Oh, and I've made a couple of phone calls, fed and changed the children, and dropped a prescription off at the pharmacy to be picked up later.
So, Nicholas' 15 month check up went well. He weighs 27 pounds, 15 ounces and is 33 1/2" tall. We are supposed to take him off of the bottle "cold turkey" and get him to use a sippy cup. He has a little cold, but was still able to receive his scheduled vaccinations.
Allison has a cold as well (thus the prescription run). She is resting at the moment. She should have a good nap today due to all of the energy she expended over being weighed and examined at the doctor's office.
The stamp a stack that I had on Friday night went well and I've received some nice feedback. I have also found out that Saturday mornings are not out of the question to hold a class and in some cases, even preferred.
We had a lazy Saturday morning and Chelsea spent a couple of hours with us on Saturday night while Lisa and Scotty attended a party.
On Sunday, Allison and I went to Sunday School and the boys stayed home. I didn't have any babies to teach or 1 year olds to cover for Tanya, so I got some things cut and prepared for my February bulletin boards at church.
The Colts won the Super Bowl (in case you've been in a cave or out of the country - or if you're a little behind on my blog or my sister's.) This fact alone still has this Hoosier smiling at the thought.
That's it for my weekend and my week so far. There's still a grocery store run to make which will hopefully bring inspiration for something to cook for supper. Wish me luck...

Blue Monday
But for all the right reasons!
COLTS WIN!! COLTS WIN!!
The Indianapolis Colts are Super Bowl champions!
After the opening kick-off return by the Bears things didn't look promising, but the Colts came through. It wasn't pretty at times, especially the weather. But they did it. Slow and steady wins the race.
